Review

To begin with, the M-Edge e-Luminator2 Booklight is designed to be used with most M-Edge’s jackets, including Trip Jacket, GO! Jacket, and Platform Jacket. That also means it is not compatible with other Kindle covers such as Amazon Kindle Leather Cover.

The Booklight features a tongue that slips into the pocket on a compatible M-Edge’s jacket. It has a LED light bulb controlled by a 3-position switch. The 3-position switch gives you two light intensity settings with the middle position being “Power Off.” It is powered by a AAA battery, which is sufficient to give you more than 20 hours of use.

The flexible steel neck enables you to position the light bulb anyway you want it. The Booklight will provide optimal amount of light to the screen without causing glare when in the right position. In addition, it features two light intensity settings that allow you to adjust the brightness based on the environment.

The soft light provided by the Booklight should be sufficient even in the darkest environment. In my own experiment, I was in a completely dark room. With the high light intensity setting, I could see the words on the Kindle clearly.

The Booklight is incredibly light – it weighs only 1.3 ounces together with the battery. Therefore, you should have no problem holding your Kindle when you are using the Booklight.

The fact that the Booklight is designed to work with M-Edge’s jackets is a double-edged sword. The advantage is that it can be stored in the back of some M-Edge’s jackets, which lets you use it anytime while on the go. It also work seamlessly with other M-Edge’s jackets that have a pocket for the tongue. However, the downside is that it will not work with other Kindle covers. You can insert the tongue in between your Kindle and the cover, but it can fall out easily.

The other minor drawback is that the 3-position switch requires a little practice to master. When I was using the Booklight, the slider on the switch always went past the middle “Power Off” position when I wanted to turn it off.

Overall

The M-Edge e-Luminator2 Booklight is a decent reading light for your Kindle, provided that you have a compatible M-Edge’s jacket. Its lightweight and compatibility with your M-Edge’s jacket all make it an ideal reading light over others.

M-Edge e-Luminator2 Booklight for Kindle is currently available from M-Edge at $24.99.
